Gombe United lose three points, goals after fans assaulted match officials

Gombe United have been ducked three points and three goals by the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, for the unruly behaviour of their fans.
Supporters of the club assaulted match officials during their NPFL matchday 26 encounter against Akwa United last weekend.
In addition to the points deduction, the NPFL also imposed a total fine of N3 million on the club, made up of N1 million each for failure to provide adequate and effective security, for throwing objects unto the field of play and compensatory payments to the four match officials at N250,000 each.

Gombe United’s home ground, the Pantami Township Stadium, will also be close to fans for the next three home games.
The Savannah Tigers have 48 hours to accept or appeal the sanction.
Gombe United are battling to escape relegation this season.
